Semi Sweet Whites

Tvishi

A medium sweet, golden wine from the controlled appellation of Tvishi. This is located in the mountainous northern Racha-Lechkhumi region of Georgia, where some of the oldest evidence for winemaking in the world has been found.  Made from 100% Tsolikouri grapes, hand-picked into small crates, and using just the best free-run juice, the fermentation is stopped by chilling when the wine reached just the right balance of sweetness.  It’s actually beautifully fresh and zesty, and finishes crisp and clean, with notes of quince, pear and even a touch of mint. Try it with spicy oriental.

Alazani Valley

Named after the river valley in Kakheti where some of Georgia’s best vineyards are to be found.  This is a bright pale greenish yellow wine, made mainly from Rkatsiteli, with a little Mtsvane.  It has an intriguing bouquet of toasted nuts and ripe apples and is gently sweet and rounded to taste, with notes of candied peel. It’s made naturally sweet by chilling the wine once it has reached the ideal balance.  It would be a lovely match with sweet tarts, apple crumble or fresh fruit salad.
